Aim

These notes are to provide guidance to those managing patients with diabetes in primary care. They were written to provide additional information on most aspects of diabetes care in conjunction with the Diabetes email project. They are based on the guidelines provided to junior doctors within the Department of Endocrinology at the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust. The views are evidence-based where possible but inevitably reflect the opinion of the author in certain areas where no clear consensus exists. Following an initial period of consultation, it is intended that these guidelines will be reviewed and any comments relating to these guidelines or their usage should be made to the author. Relevant references and useful websites are provided at the end of these guidelines.
